Raised in the heart of Texas’s Gulf Coast, Cory was introduced to the outdoors at just three years old. With a father who ran an archery shop, he grew up surrounded by the hunting and fishing community. That early exposure quickly became a way of life. From chasing ducks to casting for trout, his childhood was filled with outdoor adventures that helped shape the captain he is today.

By the age of 16, Cory had already purchased his own boat and started guiding bowfishing and duck hunting trips. That passion only grew stronger with time. He dedicated himself to learning every corner of the water, experimenting with gear, refining his techniques, and pushing through every setback to become the seasoned guide he is now.

Through hard work, perseverance, and a love for the sport, Cory turned his dream into reality by founding Russell & Sons Outdoors—a company that now helps others achieve their own fishing and hunting goals. He invested in high-quality boats, equipment, and the resources needed to create a charter service known for professionalism, hospitality, and personalized trips.

Captain Cory specializes in inshore and flats fishing, navigating prime waters like Aransas Bay, Baffin Bay, Laguna Madre, and the Gulf of America. His trips target a variety of exciting species, including trophy Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Black Drum, and Spanish Mackerel. Every trip is tailored to the guests on board, with Cory providing expert guidance and a hands-on, enjoyable experience for anglers of all ages.

Step aboard our 2024 23ft Freedom Warrior flats fishing boat, equipped for six anglers (5 adults or a mix of 2-3 adults, 3-4 kids to = 6). This vessel is powered by a Yamaha 250hp engine that cruises at a max speed of 55 mph, getting you across the flats in no time to all of Cory's secret fishing holes. Cooler with ice included, Radio, GPS, Fish Finder, and all safety equipment aboard. Have fun on this brand new, state-of-the-art vessel!
